Background
A native of Michigan, I had several unique teaching experiences prior to
arriving at SDSU. I taught vocational English in a small, rural farming
community, at Michigan's Boys' School, National Job Corps Training Center,
and English Literature in a large, urban school district. During these
teaching experiences, I was also involved as a coach of basketball and
track, and co-managed a teen-age activity center which worked with 2,500
teens. These experiences were followed by a professional experience at the
Michigan State Department of Education and teaching Educational Psychology
at Michigan State University.
My tenure at SDSU has provided numerous exciting and rewarding professional
opportunities. To name just a few, I have been a consultant/advisor to
Brazil, taught at the Instituto Tecnologico de Tijuana, consulted in the
Hawaiian Islands, and lectured on international curriculum in England.
Interests & Activities
In addition to a love for teaching, I have been involved with the National
Multiple Sclerosis Society, CHAD-United Way, and SDSU's Aztec Athletic
Foundation. Serving as either an executive board of director participant
and/or the president of the above organizations provided unique experiences
in the world of volunteers. A new venture involves sitting on the Board of
Directors for the Plymouth Holiday Bowl.
