Active Learning and Teaching with Technology
In this workshop series, participants will learn how to augment their courses by putting resources and inquiry-oriented exercises on the World Wide Web. They will analyze courses offered elsewhere and identify a range of organizational and teaching strategies which they can adapt to fit their own style.
The workshop series will focus on topics based on the interests of the participants. Topics may include the following:
- generating useful discussion on a course newsgroup
- managing course-related e-mail
- developing webquests and other web-based group activities
- electronic office hours via chat
- converting existing materials to the web
- finding useful resources on the internet
- staying up to date on a topic
- making good use of distant experts, colleagues, and sister classes
Sessions will be held in the SSRL in PSFA-140 on the following dates:
September 12 & 26 October10 & 24 November 7
All sessions will run from noon to 4PM.
