Background

Dr. James Marshall is a faculty member in the Department of Educational Technology at San Diego State University and an independent consultant to corporate business entities and school systems. He teaches graduate-level courses in instructional design, research and evaluation, and organizational performance.

He previously served as Director of Research and Evaluation with Lightspan, a leading provider of curriculum-based Language Arts and Mathematics software and Internet services for students grades K–12. In this role, his primary focus was the design and implementation of a research program to determine the program’s impact in schools and student homes across the country. During his five years with Lightspan, he also managed the design and development of over twenty educational CD-ROM and Internet-based programs.

Before joining Lightspan, Dr. Marshall held the position of Senior Consultant with Andersen Consulting. Specializing in multimedia and technology-based training solutions, he collaborated on numerous projects for clients such as Novell, DHL, and Allstate as well as internal projects directed toward Andersen Consulting personnel.
