ArtsEdge
http://artsedge.kennedy-center.org/artsedge.html
ArtEdge aims to bring together and organize the best of ideas, information, and resources from the arts and from education. Includes news, links, curriculum, and more. For example, The Student Research Pages http://artsedge.kennedy-center.org/srp.html are thematically organized collections of links designed for students' guided research on the Internet. These pages are also helpful tools as lesson plan resources. From the John F.Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts (with additional support from the U.S. Department of Education).

The Children's Literature Web Guide
http://www.acs.ucalgary.ca/~dkbrown/
David K. Brown of the University of Calgary has done a fine job pulling together this hotlist site. The care that he's put into the interface, commentary, and comprehensiveness make this a very useful starting point for those looking for more information about best books lists, authors' web sites, and reviews of what's on the Internet related to children's literature.

Carol Hurst's Children's Literature Site
http://www.carolhurst.com/
Teachers and librarians will appreciate this rich collection of reviews, curriculum ideas, and activities. Reviews are organized by title, author, type of book, and grade level, and educators can also look for ideas based on curriculum areas or themes. There's plenty here to help educators integrate literature into their curriculum.

English/Language Arts Lesson Plans From Georgia Tech
http://www.ceismc.gatech.edu/busyt/homepg.htm
This Site is designed to provide teachers with direct source materials, lesson plans, and classroom activities with a minimum of site-to-site linking, and to provide an enjoyable and rewarding experience for the teacher who is learning to use the Internet.

Hero of the Year
http://w3.nai.net/~chewie/framehero.html
In this Web-based activity by 4th-grade teacher Rebecca Pilver, elementary students research selected Web sites to select a Hero of the Year, then design a commemorative stamp. This is a nice example of how elementary educators can make use of existing Web sites in their interdisciplinary lessons.

Idea Box
http://www.theideabox.com/
Dedicated to the education of young children, this site has ideas, articles, projects, seasonal themes, and printable pages. The site includes very active message boards for parents and teachers. Recommended for Early Childhood & Primary Grades.

Little Planet Times
http://littleplanettimes.com/
"Dateline, Little Planet. Yesterday, in the meadow at the edge of the Old Forest, two friends were pulled apart just before they were going to fight. And what the two friends were ready to fight over was ..." You'll have to visit this site to find out what made Porky and Dorky so mad. This original web site encourages kids to read and write with The Little Planet Times, a newspaper created by and for kids. Top stories creatively present monthly themes, like conflict resolution. Readers can find out what's new in the "School Spotlight" or check out the Entertainment section for movie reviews or sports news. "Creative Corner" invites readers to view work of others or submit original poems, stories or artwork. Grade Level: Elementary

Mozart's Magical Musical Life
http://www.stringsinthemountains.org/m2m/1once.htm
Kids will love this interactive biography of Johannes Amadeus Mozart. The storybook is embellished with pictures, hypertext links to details, and audio files of Mozart's compositions. This site also provides a corresponding U.S. historical context by including the history of Steamboat Springs, CO, the Yampa Valley, and the Ute Indian Tribe.

PIZZAZ!
http://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~leslieob/pizzaz.html
This site is dedicated to providing creative writing activities and copyable (yes, copyable!) handouts for use with ages. The activities/lessons include poetry, fiction, and publishing. Permission is given to use these resources for in-class, non-profit use only.

Project Primary
http://www.owu.edu/~mggrote/pp/
Provided by Ohio Wesleyan University, Project Primary is a collaborative effort between professors in six departments at the university and K-3 teachers in three Ohio counties to produce hands-on activities for the teaching of science. Activities in Botany, Chemistry Children's Literature, Geology, Physics, and Zoology, are simply explained and designed to engage children's curiosity and to help them learn.
