Breaking News! We are thrilled to announce that the Advanced Certificate in Educational Facility Planning has been placed on the approved list of programs eligible for federal grants and loans through the U.S. Department of Education.  Acceptance into this program makes funding available to eligible students for tuition assistance.

Advanced Certificate Program: (September 2009). The second cohort of students from the Advanced Certificate Program celebrated graduation at the annual CEFPI conference in Wasington, DC (http://www.cefpi.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3335) on Sunday, September 27. Congratulations to this group of educational facilities professionals!

Recruiting for the Fall 2010 cohort of the Advanced Certificate Program in Educational Facilities has begun. Click here for details.

Journal of Educational Administration Building high quality schools for learners and communities. The Journal of Educational Administration, 47, 3. This issue examines what we know about the influence of educational places upon students’ learning, as well as the role the public plays in shaping those learning spaces and joining the community of learners. It includes researchers who have been active in the study of school facilities over the past 20 years, as well as younger researchers who are bringing new questions, methodologies, and conceptualizations to this endeavor.  Researchers invited to participate in this issue span the fields of public policy, urban planning, education, architecture, and sociology, presenting research and practice that is international in scope.

The Walls Speak research continues as the National Center for the Twenty-first Century Schoolhouse explores the effects of school renovation with a new study that begins in September 2008. A paper on this research will be presented at the American Educational Research Association meeting in San Diego (April 2009) titled, "Improving the Physical and Social Environment of School: The Effects of Building Renovation on Teaching and Learning."
