The National Center for the 21st Century Schoolhouse, located within San Diego State University’s College of Education, and the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI) have partnered to develop and deliver an Advanced Certificate Program that fills the need for sound information.
The partners are collaborating to offer a comprehensive course of study grounded in the key knowledge and skills central to the sound planning, building, and maintaining of learner-centered school facilities. This course of study will be delivered electronically and organized into modules based upon chapters of Creating Connections: The CEFPI Guide for Educational Facility Planning (2004). The partners plan additional modules on important issues to be developed as needed.
The Advanced Certificate Program
The primary goal of this project is to jointly develop an educational facility planning certificate program that consists of current, relevant course content; appropriate benchmarks for evaluation; and, instructional delivery that can be accessed electronically world-wide. Each course will be organized into two credit unit topical modules that are equivalent to 30-hours or eight weeks of traditional study time. Students complete a total of twelve units to earn the certificate and earn postbaccalaureate credit, as well.
Program Costs
At the current rate, the combined tuition and fees for each two-unit course are $1136. Participants typically take two courses per semester. The total cost of the program will be $6816. You can view the schedule of courses on the program link, above, or by clicking here.
