Methods Courses
 

This program is designed for 30 student teachers to learn and work together, sharing daily their ideas and solutions. Therefore, there is one schedule for all 30 student teachers. The schedule for 2000-2001 term included the following courses:
 

Semester 1:

TE 902     Classroom Management Skills (1 unit)
TE 923     Psychological Foundations of Education (3 units)
TE 930A   Teaching Reading and Language Arts in Elementary School (3 units)
TE 910A   Teaching Mathematics in Elementary School (3 units)
TE 960     Basic Student Teaching Seminar (1 unit)
TE 965     Basic Student Teaching in Elementary Schools (8 units)
 

Semester 2
:
TE 910B   Teaching Social Studies in Elementary School (2-3units)
TE 910C   Teaching Science in Elementary School (3 units)
TE 930B   Teaching Reading and Language Arts in Elementary School (3 units)
TE 961     Advanced Student Teaching Seminar (1 unit)
TE 966     Advanced Student Teaching in Elementary Schools ( 8 units)

EDTEC470 Educational Technologies for Teaching (3 units)


 

CLAD Credential

These courses are mandatory for each student in the block, but there are more required courses that must be completed to satisfy the CLAD requirements and receive your credential. Some of these requirements may have been met prior to applying for the credential program.

6 units of a foreign language
U.S. Constitution

To be taken within (1) semester after completion of the CLAD Credential Program
ED 516 Models of Bilingual Education (1 unit) OR PLC 515 Bilingual Strategies (3 units)
PLC 914 Teaching and Learning in the Content Areas (3units) OR
Linguistics 550 Theory and Practice of English as a Second Language (3 units)

To be taken within 5 years after issuance of Preliminary Teaching Credential

CHE 101 Health and Lifestyle OR CHE 996 Health Ed for Teachers (3 units)
