Mr. Corduan's 2-3 Multi-age Classroom
This iMovie captured an egg drop competition between Mr. Corduan's and Mr. Ausby's
students at Turtleback Elementary
School . Students learned about changing momentum, applied forces, and lengthening
impact time as they designed a container to protect an egg from a three story
fall to the concrete below. In an attempt to make real world connections with
the laws of Newtonian physics students submitted proposals for their container
designs, built and tested their inventions, and made predictions of the outcomes
of their drop as well as other designs. Many writing, drawing, and other literacy
activities accompanied the science lessons taught in this 2-3 multi-age setting.
The theme chosen for this year's competition was "Mission Impossible."
Dr. Yerrick assisted Mr. Corduan's students in making their iMovie as well as
providing needed scientific expertise to help explain their results. Students'
excitement is evident at the end of this iMovie regarding their 85% success.
