Addressing obstacles and identifying strategies to making science accessible for all learners

This iMovie was made by Carolina Counts in the first week of her elementary science methods course as she reflected upon her science experience. Carolina had largely positive experiences in her K-16 science learning due to the fact that her mother was continually exposing her to science through books and toys at home. Carolina was sad to learn that the rich animal husbandry experience she had in elementary school had long since been abandoned. While reading from such provocative authors as Herbert Kohl, Phillip Jackson, William Ayers, bell hooks, and other teacher/scholars Carolina and other pre-service elementary teachers of Teacher Education 910C expressed their commonly shared frustrations with their science learning experiences and desire to learn alternative methods.
