Continue promoting sharing your experiences, and promoting better understanding of other cutlures. Speak to students at Peace Corps Information Meetings, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs, schools and groups throughout San Diego County, and more...

Speak-Up about your service experiences!

• Download the Peace Corps Handbook on tips for speaking to groups about your Volunteer experience: Speakers Handbook (.pdf file, 880kb)
• RPCVs can present the culture of their host country
• Presentations can be as interactive as possible:
  • photos,
  • local foods
  • clothing
  • fabrics,
  • national music, etc.
• You can have a frank discussion with the students and answer questions about what some of the country's/community's real needs are.
• Students can work on some sort of service project tied to your presentation. The teacher or leader of the group you present to would coordinate such an activity.
  • Teacher/group have contacted group(s) of children in a presenter's country of service to communicate or receive/exchange these packs although that's not required.
  • The children have made little "Peace Packs," knapsacks with their handprints in paint, a note of peace, and some school supplies and basic dental hygience stuff and send them to the country they learned about.
  • It's always fun, and the kids are super curious.
