Background
I was born in San Diego in 1971, and I have lived here all of my life. I love to travel and I have spent time in China, Hong Kong, Mexico, as well as different parts of the United States. I have a minor in Spanish and my goal is to eventually become bilingual. I spent this past winter in Los Mochis, Sinaloa with a family who does not speak a word of English, in hopes of helping me to reach this goal. I love to work with young children. I spent last semester doing volunteer work for Kempton Elementary and I have been babysitting for a family for the past two years and I will continue to do so until it becomes impossible due to my busy schedule. I chose to become a teacher because I want to teach others of my knowledge as well as learn from others what they can teach me.
Interests, Activities & Plans
I am currently waiting tables to help pay for bills while I am in school. I will finish the credential program by the summer of 96 and hopefully find a job soon after. My boyfriend of six years is also a teacher. We hope to save enough money in the next few years to be able to move out of California and teach in a different state such as Oregon or Colorado. We have also discussed teaching in Costa Rica which I believe would be an incredible experience.
Other Interesting Things
I love to cook. My kitchen is the place where I find peace. I love to bake anything from homemade bread, to cookies to gourmet meals. My friends tell me that I should start my own business selling candies during the holidays. Maybe someday I will find the time.
