SDSU credential program - Student Teacher at O'Farrell Community School
- B.A. History, San Diego State University
Background
I am a native San Diegan. I graduated from Crawford High School in 1987. I have just received my bachelors in History from San Diego State University. In the past, I have worked for the La-Mesa/Spring Valley School District as an Instructional Aide-Computers. The school I worked for, Murdock Elementary, was a great experience. While I was there Murdock received national recognition as an exemplary school! I currently work for the San Diego City Schools in the Administrative offices of the Second Language Education Department.
Interests, Activities & Plans
My current interests lie in learning more about the internet, and how it can be used to engage students more fully in their educational goals.
One of the reasons that I am in this program is because I realize that technology is the wave of the future, but also I would like to transfer this knowledge to a bilingual setting. Although bilingual education has grown in California, I still believe that there is more room for growth. I would like to be an active part of this.
Other Interesting Things
I enjoy listening to music-all kinds-except for....country (sorry country music lovers-I've tried!) Reading is also very much a part of my daily life, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, etc. I esecially like Emily Bronte, Charlotte Bronte, and Jane Austen. Apart from doing educational stuff, I also "try" to cook-especially Chinese!
