Student teacher, English, Morse High School

Background

I was born in Charleston, South Carolina. We moved shortly after, due to the fact that my father was in the Navy. Throughout my school years, I was transfered from one school to another. I never spent more than two years in one school. In fact, I went to three different high schools in one year. I graduated from high school in Longview Washigton in 1990. After graduation, I moved to San Diego to go to school. After living here for a year, and getting California residency, I enrolled at Grossmont College. After three long years, I finally received my Associates Degree. I then transfered to San Diego State University. I changed my major from telecommunications, to journalism, to speech communications. I finally decided to pursue a carrer in education.

Interests, Activities, & Plans

While going to State, I worked as a teacher's assisstant at Perkins Elementary school. I really enjoyed this experience. It helped me in my decision to become a teacher. I also participated on the speech and debate teams at San Diego State. I went to many speech tournaments and really enjoyed the competition and presenting speeches. I also judged many high school tournaments, which gave me an insight into what teenagers were doing with speech. I hope that I am given the oppurtunity to work with a speech team at the school where I am employed.

Other Interesting Things

I really enjoy the outdoors. I love to surf, ski, mountain bike, hike and play sports. I also like to travel. Because of school, I don't have a lot of free time to travel, but I go down to Mexico as often as I can. I enjoy going to Rosarito and eating tacos, and hanging out on the beach. Some day I want to go to Spain and learn Spanish better, maybe even watch a bullfight.
