Hi! I am a second career student teacher here at O'Farrell Community school. My first career involved computer programming and management.

Background

I grew up in San Diego, California and have not traveled very much because San Diego is such a great place to be. I worked for 20 years at NCR as a computer programmer, systems integration manager and project manager. I also have a family with 3 daughters, age 6, 10 and 16, and a wonderful husband. I hope to bring my work experience into the classroom and also use my parental experience when applicable.

Interests, Activities & Plans

I am very interested in bringing interactive math activities to middle school students so that they can see how mathematics is used in their world. It alarms me that so many adults are math illiterate and I would strive to change that for the future of our country. Also I am interested in sports and the effect that fitness has on students. I would love to incorporate a combination fitness/math unit in a middle school setting.

Other Interesting Things

I spend alot of time outside with my family and am raising 3 soccer stars. When I am not on the sidelines cheering them on, I try to go running and also ride a tandem bicycle with my husband. One of our best vacations was a 7-day bike ride from the Sierras to San Francisco.

I also like to think I am a gardener and a good cook. I also love to read.
