Presidential Candidate

Congratulations, after all of your hard work, you were finally nominated to run for office of The President of the United States of America. Don't get too excited though, because there is still a lot of work to do. Before you begin your cross-country campaign there are some things you need to do.

Since we are a small party without a lot of campaign funds, you will have to research and write your own platform speech. Your platform speech will need to explain how you stand on certain issues which are important to the public. It will also need to explain how you plan to solve these problems once you are elected to office.

Through excessive research, we have found certain issues which are currently in the public's eye, so these are the issues which you will want to focus your speech on. We have provided links to valuable information for each of these topics. You will want to explore each of these topics and gather information which will help you take a stance on the issue. After you have gathered your information, you will need to write your speech. An outline of a platform speech is provided for you to use as a guide while writing.

The topics which you will need to investigate and discuss are: Social Security, Welfare, the National Debt and Taxes. We have provided space below where you can take notes on the information you find. Make sure that you look up each of the topics and jot down at least three pieces of information, because you will need to have enough information to write your speech.

Platform Speech

Now that you have finished your research it is time for you to begin writing your Platform Speech. There are five parts to this speech. The first part is the Attention Step where you tell the audience why they need to listen to you. The second step is the Needs Step where you tell the audience what the problems with the issues are. This is where you use all of the information you gathered on the Internet. The third step is the Solution Step where you tell the audience what your solutions to the problems are. The fourth step is the Visualization Step where you tell the audience what will have happen if the don't vote for you and if they do. The fifth and last step is the Action Step where you restate your points and tell the audience again why they should vote for you. We have provided a handy outline for you to follow when writing your speech.
