Scavenger Hunt
by Nancy Pickett
The Triton SiteBase now includes over 140 web sites. In this exercise you'll use the SiteBase to find sites that answer the questions below. For some questions, you might want to try using the matrix of site types and curricular areas. For others, you might want to type in a word or phrase and try to find an appropriate site that way.
The Questions
1. Find the name of a children's book about the Titanic appropriate for early readers.
(Write the answer and the name of the site that you found it on in the space below.)
2. Name and describe an interactive lesson for Grades 4-8 which teaches the names and locations of the world's oceans.
3. Name a daily Spanish newspaper that is available on-line.
4. Find a Social Studies project that targets conservation, ecology and mammals.
5. Find a site that tells about jobs with marine mammals.
6. What was Tania Hillard's "most magical moment" as a member of Kids on the Ocean (KOTO), a part of the Oceania Youth Project?
7. What is the name and profession of the person who related a personal experience with a hurricane?
The team with the most correct answers when time is called will receive a fabulous prize too valuable to mention here. Good luck!
