In this space, write a short paragraph about the idea. What's the main idea? What kinds of things might be included? What's not going to included?

This project will address the concept of human interdependence through examples of food distribution and preference.

Learning Goals:

Student will learn...

Where various fruits and vegetables are grown, and the reasons they are found in certain regions.
To identify and classify fruits and vegetables according to their primary characteristics.
How, and by whom, fruits and vegetables are transported and distributed.
To identify and compare the fruit and vegetable preferences of various populations.

Learner Task:

What are you going to ask your learners to do/perform/create to indicate that they've learned what you wanted them to learn? An oral presentation? A letter to the President? A HyperStudio representation of a tidal pool? A simulated diary of a pioneer?

Create/complete a map that identifies the growing areas of 4 fruits and 4 vegetables.
Classify and compare characteristics of fruits and vegetables by producing a Venn diagram
Researching and documenting the job tasks of individuals involved in the growing and distributing of these foods.

The culiminating task in this project might be development of a slide show or HyperStudio presentation that incorporates information regarding identification, distribution, tranportation and preferences of fruits and vegetables.
