Grade Level: 6-12 (if the idea could be used appropriately across a number of grades, indicate a range)

Principal Currlcular Areas Addressed: Math (to make it easier for us to index this idea, use standard terms like Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, etc.)

Topic:

The idea is to select a soccer team by using the deduction process. Students will be given sites to visit where they'll be able to see statistics about the players and the positions they play and create the best team they can. They must explain why the players they chose are better than the others they didn't.

In this space, write a short paragraph about the idea. What's the main idea? What kinds of things might be included? What's not going to included?

This project will cover...

Learning Goals:

What kinds of things do you hope your students will learn? You might want to put objectives in the form of a bulleted list like this:

Student will learn...

Learner Task:

What are you going to ask your learners to do/perform/create to indicate that they've learned what you wanted them to learn? An oral presentation? A letter to the President? A HyperStudio representation of a tidal pool? A simulated diary of a pioneer?

The culiminating task in this project might be completing a compare and contrast chart of the players they select vs. the ones they didn't. They will create a diagram of a soccer field where the players' names are written and explain why they chose them to be there through an oral report.

Resources:

What websites have you already identified that might be useful? What books, tapes and other offline resources do you know about?

Resources for this project idea might include....

When you're done drafting your idea, erase all the green text prompts, and save the file under an appropriate name like tide-investigation.html. Your instructor or one of the mentors will collect it for you and it will be posted on the symposium website in a day or two.
