Advanced World History, Advanced Placement American History, and the Global Affairs Institute
I was born in Omaha, Nebraska where I lived until the age of 13. At which time I moved to San Diego, California where I completed junior high, high school, and 3 years of college. I have lived in Nebraska, Iowa, California, and northeastern Brazil where I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer.
While in Brazil I worked as a visiting health worker teaching health education and sanitation to the local villagers as well as delivering babies, teaching English as a Second Language to Bank of Brazil personnel, and playing the pump organ for the children's choir at one of the local churches. After my return to the USA, I graduated from college and got a job working with the handicapped training and evaluating them in the work setting. Three years later I was hired first as a substitute teacher and then a full time teacher for the San Diego Unified School District.
I have worked as a teacher of elementary, junior high, and high school students. I have worked as a Research Analyst for SAIC corporation on a variety of special projects including such things as analysizing and documenting missle capabilities and weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East.
I am an avid hiker and have hiked the mountains of many European, Latin American and Asia nations--mostly in the developing world. I am a professional musician and actress as well and have performed in various locations in San Diego.
I love classical music, jazz and dixieland. I also am an avid reader of detective fiction and espionage. I have an eclectic group of friends who include musicians, actors, engineers, teachers, and a variety of other 'intellectual types'.
