Triton SiteBase Triton SiteBase

This is a compendium of sites on the World Wide Web that have something to do with the ocean. It is intended as a source of ideas and resources for schools and libraries participating in San Diego Unified School District's Triton Project, a Challenge Grant funded by the U. S. Department of Education.

For a more comprehensive index of high-quality sites, see the excellent Blue Web'n page developed by the Education First Applications Design Team.

About the Triton SiteBase

How do I find what I need?

We've chosen a few strategies for helping you find what you need. One way is to search our records (with or without the clickable keyword form); another way is to use the Applications Table above. The table shows the number of entries for each content area and application type so you can get a quick idea of the information depth before you look. Finally, our Content Categories page lists each content and subcontent area as a link so you can quickly list content-specific applications.

What's an application?

To find out more about what we mean by application, see Defining the Types of Applications (a brief definition of types with bulleted critical attributes) or What's On the Web? (an article by Tom March published in the CUE Newsletter and Compton's New Media on America Online).

What do those stars mean?

The stars show our ratings of applications (5-star applications are the best). To find out how we evaluate applications, see our Rubric for Evaluating Applications.

We welcome your comments!
